Kia ora whānau and welcome back to another exciting school year. We want to reaffirm our commitment to partnering with families for a fullfilling learning experience. At our core, we understand the importance of community in nuturing our students’ growth and success. Together we hope to build a collaborative partnership which fosters a supportive learning environment for all. Each morning we begin our day with a whakatauki and waiata outside in the quad area and our families are very welcome to join us for this.
As a means of communicating with families each term, we email school newsletters (weeks 3,6 and 9) and class teacher newsletters (weeks 3 and 8). Please read these, as they will keep you up to date with what your child is learning, as well as keep you informed about school news, events and celebrations.
Today’s pānui is just to let you know what’s coming up…
Swimming
Swimming lessons start in Week 3 (12-16 February) – Tuesdays for Yr 4-6 and Thursdays for Yr 1-3. These Easyswim lessons taken by instructors are free to all of our families. All children are expected to particiate as part of our PE programme. If your child is unable to swim on any particular week, please let your child’s class teacher know.
Volunteers
Our school needs volunteers to help it run smoothly. We are looking for people who can give their time listening to student readers, tending school gardens, the Bike Track development (gardening, developing the obstacles track, bike sponsorship), road patrols, grants applications and fundraising. We will be sending home a survey link soon asking for your help.
Wednesday Parent Drop-in
On Wednesdays from 2.30pm, parents and whānau are welcome to drop-in to the staffroom to meet up with others over tea/coffee. If you’d like to be the Meet and Greet person to take responsibility for this, please email office@rewarewa.school.nz. The idea is that groups of people (especially those new to our school), can make connections with others from their home country or share the same language, can do so in a friendly, supportive way.
Meet the Teacher evening
Mark your calendars now, 5pm, Thursday 15 February we will be holding a bring your own picnic/takeaways evening where families can meet each other, as well as meet their child’s class teacher to hear about expectations and routines for 2024 – further details soon.
Absences
Whenever you child is absent from school you must let us know before 9am by either phoning (04) 939 0186 (leave a message on the answerphone if no one answers), emailing office@rewarewa.school.nz or completing an absence email via the school’s app or website. You must contact us every day of your child’s absence unless you have advised their return date. This is vitally important, as it helps us to know they are safe. If you do not contact us to advise your child’s absence, you will receive a call from our office manager and this is currently taking over an hour each morning!
Today we have welcomed Aeric, Kellan, Skylar and Odin, along with their families – we hope you love learning with us at Rewa Rewa School!
